I Failed the Kubernetes Associate Exam
So, I sat for my Kubernetes Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) exam yesterday, and sadly I failed 😔
However, I felt good that I scored above average.
Personally, I struggled with a lot of YAML configurations. These were things I didn't play with a lot while I studied. I mostly focused on understanding the landscape and concepts.
What sucks about this exam is this, there isn’t any original certification guide, unlike the Cisco associate exam. So, it’s kind of like studying and depending on your intuitions. Now, I see that I need to fully focus on the official Kubernetes documentation when labbing. Try to get things settled in.
Also, I was granted a retake that expires in 2 weeks. I’d be studying on steroids if I try to cover the entire tech stack while labbing. I doubt that’s something I want to do. I’m labbing like I am studying the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), seeing it covers similar concepts.
I plan to pick up YAML. Kubernetes still lags using a tool like Hashicorp, I have spent some time learning Hashicorp. But I believe I can use it to deploy my Kubernetes cluster on AWS. I love this video exploring the lags of using Hashicorp with Kubernetes.
I’ll be documenting my Kubernetes labs on my dev blog.
I’m really excited that I’m getting my feet wet in this new space. I’ll just try to have as much fun as I can.
Until next time I guess.
