Is The OCG Not a Trusted Resource For a Certification?
Welcome to 2021!!! This year I continue to live by my mantra “Stare into the eyes of greatness and grab it by the neck!”
NOTE: As you read on, OCG is referred to as an Official Certification Guide.
Cisco exams are all about scenarios. And Boson Netsim has grown to be a trusted resource for getting real-world, exam-related scenarios. But, I got something different when I began labbing EtherChannels.
On a beautiful Monday morning, I did my usual morning lab ritual, and shared it on my Twitter. When one of my audience spoke to me about hard coding an interface to always use a certain type of protocol (LACP | PAGP).

I hadn’t seen it in action in the OCG (it was only mentioned that the command exists), and I wasn’t delighted to see what wasn’t applied at the OCG on another platform that still talks about the same certification.
Source: It says, no formal prerequisites for the certification. But, having industry experience is a plus (Eventually, for identifying a weird scenario like the one I will write about next).
Not everybody can afford a lot of other resources. This is an eye-opener for me that, the OCG shouldn’t be your only trusted resource. I hope it is an eye-opener for anyone who is starting their CCNA journey.
Well, after weeks of struggle, I finally grasped the hard-coding concept. It’s why I share this story with all of you.
On my next blog post, I present the scenario and what I learnt about it.
